Companies which will participate in the 12th Scottish Manufacturing and Engineering Exhibition in Glasgow on Oct 29 to Nov 1, 1996 are presented. These include J. Wilson Power Tools which will introduce a range of products for hand-cutting mild and stainless steel, Nederman which specializes in welders' helmets, mobile fume and dust extractor units, and Datum Scotland which will be launching the Acu-rite MILLPWR two-axis CNC/three-axis DRO retrofit package.

Training to meet industry's needs
Article Abstract:
The Centre of Excellence for Advanced Toolmaking has been established in High Wycombe, England to provide training, support and education for Britain's tool industry. The centre's extensive training programme has been tailored to the views of UK toolmakers, who were asked to make suggestions on course content. The centre currently offers 25 short courses, all structured around the results of a questionnaire.

Automotive component market needs more genuine partnerships

UK auto parts manufacturers responding to a survey stressed the need for working partnerships with automakers in order to compete with East Asian and eastern European manufacturers. Part quality, delivery reliability and accuracy, scheduling flexibility, management attitudes, technical support and delivery lead-time were listed as important factors.
