Transition state spectroscopy
Article Abstract:
Transition state spectroscopy has been used to experimentally characterize the transition state for inversion in cyclooctatetraene (C8H8). The research represents an important step forward because the reaction of C8H8 is much more complex than that usually accessible to transition state spectroscopy.

Catching an elusive cation
Article Abstract:
Peter de Rege, John Gladysz and Istvan Horvath have directly observed the formyl cation (HCO+) reaction intermediate in chemical reactions in superacidic media. Their spectroscopic methods are described.
