Formation of dioxins during the combustion of newspapers in the presence of sodium chloride and poly(vinyl chloride)

Article Abstract:

An analysis of the exhaust gases from the burning of newspapers and from newspapers mixed with sodium chloride, polyethylene or polyvinyl chloride at municipal sites indicates the formation of dioxins. The results of the study are discussed and tabulated.

Researchers from the New Mexico Tech discussed the process of molten salt waste treatment. The process involves injecting combustible waste matter into molten salt bath along with air or oxygen thereby oxidizing it.
