Neutrophilia in mice that lack the murine IL-8 receptor homolog

Article Abstract:

An alternative explanation for the neutrophil and B cell expansion observed in mice that do not have the murine interleukin-8 receptor homolog is presented. Research supports the view that the change is a compensatory response to substandard resistance to normal flora and pathogens.

Unraveling immune privilege

Article Abstract:

Immune privilege allows tissue to be grafted to certain sites without immune rejection. A variety of biological mechanism operate to maintain immune privilege. One is the control of T cells in the eye by the Fas ligand.

IL-12: initiation cytokine for cell-mediated immunity

Article Abstract:

Scientists have discovered that IL-12 is the factor that causes uncommitted T cells to become T helper 1 cells, the subset that executes cell-mediated immune responses. The research and its implications are discussed.
