New hope for hearts

Article Abstract:

From the summer of 2001 a innovative mechanical heart will be tested by American patients suffering from badly diseased hearts. No larger than the size of a grapefruit, the AbioCor is the first self-contained, totally implantable mechanical heart. Only patients who are expected not to live more than 30 days will be selected for the testing process.
