Plug-and-play robots

Article Abstract:

The belief that personal robots may soon be as cheap and customizable as personal computers is highlighted. Thomas J. Burick, an unusual inventor in this field, states that his model the PC-Bots could cost in the neighborhood of 1,000 U.S. dollars and such machines could perform tasks like patrolling a floor, recognizing a person, speaking a phrase, then snapping a photo and e-mailing it to a supervisor.
