Prepublishing research on the Web

Article Abstract:

The publication 'Environmental Science & Technology' (ES&T) plans to consider research posted on the World Wide Web as published material. The policy is close to that of the 'Journal of the American Chemical Society,' which considers any manuscript posted on the World Wide Web, in newsgroups or in electronic conferences as published material. Four major editorial modifications of ES&T are also presented, including the accessability of the ES&T on the Web beginning in early 1998.
