Recording Carceral Landscapes
Article Abstract:
"The Recording Carceral Landscapes" project was aimed at making filed recordings at some California prisons and place the soundscapes within a history of prison architecture and penal policy. The Prison Infiltration and Surveillance Suit, made up of a business suit, pinhole camera, micro-microphones and recording devices, highlighted the total domination and silencing of prisoners and the silence of a society in which prisons are a profitable industry.

Is zoning a positive-sum game?
Article Abstract:
A theoretical model of a one-stage game of a typical zoning lottery is used to determine whether zoning rent-seeking is exclusively a negative-sum game. Results demonstrate that zoning is not always a negative-sum game. Moreover, possible equilibria corresponding to under-dissipation of rent exist, indicating positive-sum outcomes. These sum-outcomes are generated with a relatively small number of players when fixed-rent is adjusted for social costs.
