Seaside solution

Article Abstract:

The treatment of urban runoff from Salt Creek watershed, which enters the Pacific Ocean at Dana Point, by the urban runoff treatment facility (URTF), with ozone, is discussed. The urban runoffs discharged at the beaches consisted of bacteria, which crossed the standards set forth in the Beaches Environmental Assessment, Closure, and Health Act of 2000.

This article describes the search for alternative sources of water to meet the demands of public water supply in the Tampa Bay, Florida. The aquifer encompasses surface and groundwater water treatment plants and a pumping station where the waters, including desalinated water, are blended.

DOE installs permeable treatment wall for strontium cleanup

Article Abstract:

Issues discussed concern the US Department of Energy's design and construction of a groundwater treatment system that could save millions of dollars if the plan proves successful. The system works by using zeolite to attract and remove radioactive strontium 90 from the groundwater.
