The US FDA has issued approval for a number of antisense drugs, which promise to address a number of viral disorders, including AIDS and Crohn's disease. These preparations function by hindering the formation of unwanted proteins by limiting the action of messenger RNA.

Computer science professor Henry Fuchs and two graduate students superimposed ultrasonic images of fetus onto a video image of a pregnant woman's abdomen to provide an accurate spacial perspective for guiding physicians as they insert and manipulate probes in the body.
