Smog from space: pollution photographed from the space shuttle helps to quantify global cooling
Article Abstract:
Researchers have determined that sulfates are major components of haze. The sulfate haze may actually contribute to global cooling by reflecting away solar radiation and increasing cloud reflectivity. However, the haze also causes acid rain and contributes to ozone-layer depletion.

Pump it up
Article Abstract:
The left ventricular assist device enables defective hearts to continue pumping up to a year's time and can even serve as a transplant alternative. The use of this device, however, may lead to blood clots and stomach infections in some patients.
