Student life

Article Abstract:

There is growing concern over the deteriorating quality of engineering education and the lack of interest in engineering courses among students in the United Kingdom. Educational leaders are studying different ways to improve the situation. The notion that engineering courses are long, difficult and boring must be erased. Stricter admission requirements have to be enforced to prevent underqualified students from enrolling in engineering courses. The engineering curriculum also needs to be modified to provide students with more free time to develop their interpersonal skills.

En Tra calls for flexible training funding

Article Abstract:

A survey conducted by the Engineering Training Authority (En Tra) on the engineering training facilities imparting intermediate level skills revealed that the reported downfall in the number of training centers and professional trainers were unwarranted. The survey pointed towards the need for more flexibility funding measures and tin raining provisions. The modern apprenticeship scheme was welcomed, particularly in larger settings. The factors behind the declining attraction of the training industry are discussed.
