Synthetic Diacyglycerols (DAG) and DAG-lactones as activators of protein kinase C (PK-C)
Article Abstract:
Design and construction of a series of 4,4-disubstituted-gamma-butyrolactones are explained, which contain DAG-lactones that act selectively in activating ligands of protein kinase C (PK-C) in cellular signal transduction. The consequence of reducing the entropic penalty associated with the transformation of DAG to a DAG-lactone is examined.

Determinants of substrate recognition in nonreceptor tyrosine kinases
Article Abstract:
Tyrosine kinases are signaling enzymes that regulate growth, differentiation, and apoptosis in mammalian cells. The noncatalytic regions of Src family tyrosine kinases that are involved in enzyme regulation, substrate selection and multisite phosphorylation are described.

Specificity is complex and time consuming: mutual exclusivity in tyrosine kinase-mediated signaling
Article Abstract:
Various protein complexes that appear during tyrosine kinase (TK)-mediated signaling are identified. TK-mediated signaling accounts for a large number of important transduction pathways in various fundamental cellular processes.
