Through-thickness residual stress distribution after the cold expansion of fastener holes and its effect on fracturing
Article Abstract:
The hole drilling technique is used to sketch stress patterns in three-dimension at a particular orientation of split-sleeve cold expanded holes. The results are compared with that of Fourier series expansion, neutron diffraction and finite element method and also a correlation between the stress-patterns and a fatigue crack profile is presented.

Introduction to compressive residual stress using a cavitating jet in air
Article Abstract:
The capabilities of a cavitating jet in air was investigated by comparing the mass loss achieved with specimens of aluminum treated by a cavitating jet in air, a cavitating jet in a water-filled chamber and a normal water jet in air. The use of cavitating jet in air for the purpose of introducing compressive residual stress is discussed.
