The historical record of atmospheric pyrolytic pollution over Europe registered in the sedimentary PAH from remote mountain lakes

Article Abstract:

Researchers from Spain and the United Kingdom investigated the historical records of the deposition of flukes of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in remote mountain lakes from 1830 to the present.

Selective trapping of organochlorine compounds in mountain lakes of temperate areas

Article Abstract:

Fish and sediments from 19 mountain lakes in Europe are studied for levels of semivolatile organochlorine compounds such as hexachlorocyclohexanes, hexachlorobenzene, DDTs, and polychlorobiphenyls. Analysis of the samples is charted according to site, altitude, and temperature.

Sediment Fluxes of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in European High Altitude Mountain Lakes

Article Abstract:

Researchers took cores from 12 lakes in Portugal, Spain, France, Austria, Poland, Slovakia, Ireland, and Norway to show that polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) deposition is related to combustion particles as the main transport of PAH.
