Article Abstract:

Phytoplankton are important components in the energy exchange processes of the oceans. They reduce atmospheric carbon dioxide, and thus play a crucial role in affecting climatic changes and global warming. Diatoms and dinoflagellates are among the most interesting members of this family.

The stunning and elegant simplicity of the physical appearance of jellyfishes belies their biochemical complexity. Jellyfishes are the first organisms to develop a nervous system, relying on biochemistry to manufacture a number of toxins.

Life after death: the death of one species can mean life for many others

Article Abstract:

The death of one animal may mean the survival of others. Carcasses of dead animals may serve as food for predators. Rotting trees, on the other hand, are used as habitat or spawning ground by some animals.
