However, a report by the Institute of Personnel and Development in the UK indicates that analysts are aware of the importance of people development and its effect on financial performance. However, they are reluctant to make judgments which as outsiders is difficult to make.

An intranet is a network using internet-type technology such as browser software, but the real potential of intranets is still little understood. However an intranet can be built alongside an existing e-mail network to enable people to be proactive and co-operative. Intranet functionality and value can grow over time, but the foundations must be firm and fully appreciated throughout an organization.
