Clearcutting, which turned forests into open brushlands in the early years of North America, and the current trend to restore parks, are responsible for the large area of distribution of coyotes. Their opportunistic hunting habits and weak jaws force them to find sustenance near human habitation.

Canadian Mike McIntosh has made a career of caring for injured bears, which he cares for inside his Bear With Us bear sanctuary and rehabilitation center. McIntosh makes it a point that the bears in the sanctuary learn to live in the wild after their rehabilitation.

Big city park: the Rouge Park is a wildlife oasis in the middle of the bustling metropolis

The 4,700 hectare Rouge Park situated in the middle of Greater Toronto houses 220 species of birds such as ospreys, wood ducks and eastern bluebirds. Rouge Park has a campground, a private stable and the necessary visitor's center which offers park information.
