Threats of war, chances for peace

Article Abstract:

The U.S. President John F. Kennedy's "generous-tit-for-tat" strategy had become very successful in preventing the spread of war as it recognizes the shared interests of adversaries. Kennedy believed in the potential for cooperation and the same strategy can be used in present world that might prove to be the key to keeping people alive and secure.

Welfare states, beyond ideology

Article Abstract:

Evidence has shown that the Austrian-born free-market economist Friedrich August von Hayek's idea of high-taxation as a road to serfdom, a threat to freedom itself, is wrong. A generous social-welfare state is not just a road to serfdom but rather to fairness, economic equality and international competitiveness in strong and vibrant democracies.

Crisis in the drylands

Article Abstract:

The severe environmental and social conditions that lead to serious violent conflicts in the dryland countries are discussed. These countries need to be developed economically to avoid such wars and disputes.
