Vintage valley: BC's South Okanagan deserves protection

Article Abstract:

South Okanagan at vintage valley in British Columbia is at the lower end of a region known as the Interior Dry Plateau, and has four eco-zones. The area's native flora and fauna desperately require more protection because of intense human population growth and conversion of the landscape for higher and higher economic ideals, which destroy the ecosystems.

Fishing for answers: can BC's salmon fishery be saved?

Article Abstract:

British Columbia's salmon populations appear very close to extinction, with catch sizes dropping at dramatic rates since 1992. The year 1996 is regarded as the worst ever, with expected catch down by 40% from 1995 levels. A salmon habitat conservation plan has been developed to remedy the situation.
