Wetlands score at Coors Field

Article Abstract:

Hok Sport has developed an artificially submerged and vegetated wetlands to purify Coors Field stadium's wastewater to comply with Denver's clean-water regulations and the Clean Water Act provisions. The construction of the wetlands, comprising of six ponds with different planting sequences and an underground tank system, cost $35,000 more than the required cost for a standard waste-water treatment system. The pollutants are digested by a microbial field, which is developed by a gravel growing medium.

Article Abstract:

This article discusses design/build construction method as applied to the construction of a 190-acre hazardous landfill divided by a freeway and surrounded by residences in Los Angeles. The construction work was undertaken when the desgn was 60% complete and involved capping of the landfill with an evapotranspirative cover and a geosynthetic clay liner in conforming to the environmental regulatory requirements.

A culvert for Abram Creek

This article discusses the design and construction of a culvert to cover a mile-long Abram Creek near Cleveland's airport in Ohio. The culvert design includes major hydraulic structures and address geotechnical and erosion control and environmental issues.
