Selling the immune system short
Article Abstract:
Researchers at the Univ of California at Los Angeles have discovered that the chromosomes of HIV-infected people have shorter telomeres. This shortness seems to indicate that fighting the virus causes the immune system to age prematurely, which lessens its ability to battle pathogens.
