What makes brain neurons run?

Article Abstract:

Neurologists have been arguing whether brain activity depends on oxygenation or can obtain energy by anaerobic means. Research supporting the anaerobic hypothesis was supported by the invention of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). More recent studies favor the aerobic side.

Researchers get a sharper image of the human brain

Article Abstract:

Researchers are using functional magnetic resonance imaging to produce detailed maps of the visual areas in the human brain cortex. Results indicate that parts of the human brain that process visual images are organized like those of monkey brains, although size and placement differ.

Carbon monoxide: killer to brain messenger in one step

Article Abstract:

Researchers have discovered and mapped a carbon monoxide producing brain enzyme which may behave as a biological signal. Heme oxygenase was found in several regions of the brain. The research implies that other neural messengers may be found.
