Working knowledge: Open sesame

Article Abstract:

Many new vehicles offer remote keyless entry through program called microprocessor, which is dedicated with a key fob with an algorithmic formula that generates a secret, encrypted code that changes each time a button is pressed. These immobilization systems does not allow a car to start after a key is inserted into the ignition unless chip built into the key head provides the right code to a chip inside the ignition housing.

Working knowledge: complete burn

Article Abstract:

The real improvement in car technology came in the 1980s, and later in the 1990s as new cars were fitted with sequential multipoint fuel injectors, and emissions fell as fuel efficiency rose. Superior fuel control is the driving force, and the direct-injection engines operate at higher pressures, although this would provide better fuel control if the cost and emission problems can be overcome.
