Young suns: telescope technology pulls the veil from infant stars

Article Abstract:

Astronomers Stephen E. Strom, Karen M. Strom and K. Michael Merrill have captured images of the youngest stars ever seen, adding to the understanding of how stars are formed. The stars were found in Lynds 1641, an interstellar cloud near the Orion Nebula. The youngest star is about 500,000 years old.

Crisis? What crisis?

Article Abstract:

A recent study indicating that the universe is only slightly more than eight billion years old has raised doubts concerning several widely-accepted cosmological theories. Although this has caused a new controversy, most scientists do not think that it is a crisis.
