Clock drawing: analysis in a retirement community
Article Abstract:
Research indicates that the clock drawing test is an efficient means for assessing cognitive function in older adults as a self-administered task. The method is free of cultural or language factors, and is readily adapted to mail surveys. Total clock scores observed during research showed successive decreases corresponding to increases in the age of test subjects.

A simple test of central processing speed: an extension of The Short Blessed Test
Article Abstract:
A simple test of central processing speed, reciting the months of the year in reverse order, or the months of the year backward (TMYB) test, using an extension of The Short Blessed Test (SBT) has been evaluated using cross-sectional and longitudinal designs to establish validity and test-retest reliability. A randomly selected group of Medicare recipients made up the age-stratified sample of 120 women aged 67-94 and living in the community. The TMYB test was found to be a valid and reliable measure of central processing speed. It compares favorably to the more elaborate and time-consuming Trail Making B test while be simple and easy to administer. It extends utility of the SBT, measuring an additional and important domain of brain function.
