Adult age differences in the inhibition of return of visual attention
Article Abstract:
Adults are found to be unable to redirect their attention to a location in seeking a visual target if they had previously turned their attention to the same location. This mechanism, known as inhibition of return, may be due to a inhibitory effects of the tectopulvinar visual pathway which connects the retina to the superior colliculi in the midbrain to the dorsal thalamus in the cortex. The phenomenon regulates the selective capabilities of the brain and is not merely a characteristic of old age as has been presumed.

Exploring the specificity of age-related differences in theory of mind tasks
Article Abstract:
Young and older adults were assigned tasks assessing theory of mind (ToM) and non-mental state control tasks with a view to examining earlier contradictory findings regarding age differences in the decoding of mental states. Findings showed that age differences were observed on a verbal ToM task.
