Advancing age and cervical cancer screening and prognosis
Article Abstract:
Research indicates that the significantly high incidence of cervical cancer in older women is due to a lack of screening within the three-year period prior to diagnosis. However, controlling for the cancer's stage at diagnosis, women 60 years of age and older did not have higher mortality rates associated with invasive cervical cancer than women younger than 60.

Functional decline in aging and disease: a role for apoptosis
Article Abstract:
Research indicates that advanced age is linked with dysregulation of programmed cell death, or apoptosis, as age affects protein levels and other factors that are involved in its regulation. This evidence may explain age-related increases in diseases such as neurodegenerative disorders, cancers, and some forms of autoimmune diseases.

Genetic and environmental influences on self-reported reduced hearing in the old and oldest old
Article Abstract:
Research indicates that clinical studies of hearing loss in the elderly should include both environmental and genetic factors as possible causes. This would require information on family histories, and biological sampling for research on candidate genes involved in hearing loss.
