An introduction to geriatrics for first-year medical students
Article Abstract:
First year medical students at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio participated in a program to increase their awareness of geriatric medicine. None of the students decided to go into geriatrics but they did gain comfort working with the elderly and better understood geriatric health issues.

Geriatrics in Brazil: a big country with big opportunities
Article Abstract:
In Brazil, about 15.2 million are aged 60 and above and 1.9 million are of the age bracket 80 and older. But only around 500 Brazilian doctors are certified geriatricians. The scope of geriatrics in Brazil is examined.

The Dean's Faculty Scholars in Aging Program was introduced by the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. It aims at improving the knowledge of geriatrics of nongeriatrician faculty members.
