Can the control of bodily orientation be significantly improved in a group of older adults with a history of falls?
Article Abstract:
A biofeedback-based, computerized balance intervention was found to significantly improve control of bodily orientation in older adults with a history of falls, according to results of study using a 2 x 2 (group x time) mixed factorial design with repeated measures on the second factor. Principles of the ecological theory of perception were applied in the intervention.

Preventing falls in older people: outcome evaluation of a randomized controlled trial
Article Abstract:
Research indicates that a one-time intervention is not sufficient in reducing the prevalence of falling accidents in the home-living elderly. The intervention studied included hazard assessment, resident education, and home modification. Inefficiency of the one-time intervention is attributed to the limited effect on the number of hazards within the subjects' homes.

Preventing falls in older people: impact of an intervention to reduce environmental hazards in the home
Article Abstract:
Research indicates that interventions can produce a small reduction in falling accidents for the home-living elderly. Hazards included floor rugs, steps, stepovers such as bath tub edges, and trailing cords. Preventive interventions included rug stabilization, handrail installation, and the application of nonslip strips for steps.
