The last 2 years of life: functional trajectories of frail older people

Article Abstract:

Research indicates that functional decline accelerates only slightly during the last two years of life in frail elderly populations. This suggests that current end-of-life care services geared toward severe and rapid functional declines may not efficiently meet the needs of this population.

Ethnic differences in the prevalence and pattern of dementia-related behaviors

Article Abstract:

The prevalence of dementia-related behaviors in a large, multiethnic sample of community-dwelling patients with moderate to severe dementia and to determine whether differences in prevalence of these behaviors between white and nonwhite patients are determined. The study concluded that the Black and Latino community-dwelling patients with moderate to severe dementia have a higher prevalence of dementia-related behaviors than Whites.
