Disparities in antidepressant treatment in Medicaid elderly diagnosed with depression
Article Abstract:
Medicaid data on low income elderly patients was used to assess racial or ethnic differences in depression treatment and also disparities in classes of drugs prescribed. Key findings of the study are that 24.2 percent of all racial groups did not receive treatment and 37.1 percent African Americans were also less likely than other racial groups to receive treatment. About 26.3 percent received old antidepressant drugs.

Unmet desire for caregiver-patient communication and increased caregiver burden
Article Abstract:
Caregivers undergo mental and emotional agony as they look after the elderly persons. Communication plays an important role in between the caregiver and the seriously ill older person. Inability to communicate on the part of the seriously ill patient and inability to comprehend on the part of caregivers is examined and its effect on the caregivers' burden is analyzed.
