Effects of chlordiazepoxide and scopolamine, but not aging, on the detection and identification of conditional visual stimuli
Article Abstract:
Experimental studies of the ability of rats of various ages to respond to visual stimuli upon treatment with chlordiazepoxide (CDP), a benzodiazepine receptor agonist, shows that CDP weakens the detection of and response to conditional visual stimuli by the rats. The influence of CDP is identical to that of the muscarinic antagonist scopolamine. Aging, however, does not affect the nature of these responses.

Estimating parametric survival model parameters in gerontological aging studies: methodological problems and insights
Article Abstract:
The important factors which influence the accurate estimation of multiparametric survival model being fit are examined. The various types of data, fitting procedures, best fit definitions, smoothing and data reconstruction are investigated. The consequences which could result from methodological misuse are related to the values of final parameter estimates and their associated errors.

Birds as animal models for the comparative biology of aging: a prospectus
Article Abstract:
Birds such as humming birds and sea birds serve as efficient animal models for biogerontological studies due to their long life-span, which helps analyze the defensive mechanisms against aging. Birds can be maintained with ease and are economical as laboratory resources. A study of the Maillard reaction damage and free radical damage can be conducted thoroughly with birds.
