Health screening decisions for older adults: AGS position paper
Article Abstract:
Health- screening decisions for older adults are addressed in an American Geriatrics Society ( AGS) position paper. The society's position is that individualization of care decisions, relecting the primacy of indiv idual choice, is more important than age-based standardization of care decisions. If a person's condition would make tests more burdensome, that should be taken into account. Little evidence has been available for making decisions for screening tests in older adults, especially for those aged 70 and older.
