Footlift asymmetry during obstacle avoidance in high-risk elderly
Article Abstract:
The hypothesis that vertical footlift asymmetries and low obstacle clearing distance during obstacle avoidance are characterics of elderly people classified as high risk for falls is tested. High-risk elderly show a marked asymmetry in foot clearance while stepping over an obstacle at a much lower distance than the lead foot.

A study to determine whether frail older people who live without needed help for their activity of daily living (ADL) disabilities are at higher risk for acute care admissions while they live with unmet ADL needs, is presented.
