Psychotropic medication withdrawal and a home-based exercise program to prevent falls: a randomized, controlled trial
Article Abstract:
Withdrawal of psychotropic medication significantly reduces risk of falling, but permanent withdrawal is very difficult to achieve based on a randomized, controlled trial with a two-by-two factorial design that has been carried out to investigate psychotropic medication withdrawal and a home-based exercise program to prevent falls for those over age 65. The study involved 17 general practices in New Zealand. After 44 weeks, the relative hazard for falls in the withdrawal group was .34 vs those taking the original medication in the double-blind withdrawal and single-blind exercise program.

Comparison based on age of baseline electrocardiographic abnormalities in non-Q-wave myocardial infarction
Article Abstract:
Older patients who present with non-Q-wave myocardial infarction have higher incidence of left ventricular hypertrophy and ST depression on electrocardiograms than younger patients according to a comparison based on age of baseline electrocardiographic abnormalities in such patients. These electrocardiographic features in the past have been seen with increased risk of death and recurrent myocardial infarction and may help account for the less good prognosis of non-Q-wave myocardial infarction in elderly patients.
