Pneumococcal polysaccharide revaccination: immunoglobulin G seroconversion, persistence, and safety in frail, chronically ill older subjects
Article Abstract:
A prospective sudy has been carried out in six s killed nursing facilities in a metropolitan area to determine the one-month postpneumococcal polysacchar ide-revaccination immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibody response, its persistence at one year, and tolerability of revaccination in frail, chronically ill older residents. Re sults show that in this group revaccination with 23-valent postpneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine at least five years after primary vaccination is associated with a significant, though brief, immunological response for most serotypes tested.

Differences in mortality of black and white patients enrolled in the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly
Article Abstract:
A longitudinal cohort stu dy into d ifferences in mortality of black and white patients enrolled in the P rogram of A ll-I nclusive C are for the E lderly (PACE) has been carried out. It was found that a system providing access to and coordination of comprehensieve medical and long-term care services for frail older people, black patients have a lower mortality rate than white patients. The survival advantage emerges about one year after PACE enrollment and may be related to the comprehensive access and coordination of services provided by the PACE program.
