ATP-sensitive K+ channels come of age
Article Abstract:
The 2nd International Conference on ATP-sensitive Potassium Channels and Disease focused on several molecular observations that have developed five years after the first conference identified the high-affinity sulphonylurea receptor (SUR1). Researchers who have gained fresh insights into persistent hyperinsulinaemic hypoglycaemia of infancy and ATP-sensitive potassium channels reported on their findings. They included A. Aynsley-Green, J. Rahier, M. Dunne, T. Miki, A. Kirchgessner, I. Dukes, A. Babenko, M. Schwanstecher, U. Quast, A. Senior, D. Gadsby and C. Stauffacher.
