Severe disruptive vocalizers
Article Abstract:
The most disruptive vocalizers in nursing homes have severe cognitive and physical problems. In addition, they are likely to die within six months. Of the 203 severe vocalizers with dementia who could be heard 50 feet away, 48% were physically restrained and 76% took psychotropic medication. There were "screamers" and "talkers," depending on the amount of verbalization used.
