Peripheral arterial disease: insights from population studies of older adults
Article Abstract:
Insights in peripheral arterial disease (PAD) have been gained by using population studies of older adults. PAD is commonly found in older adults and the prevalence increases with age. Older adults with PAD are disabled and have a high risk for cardiovascular disease and death.

Strength and muscle quality in a well-functioning cohort of older adults: the health, aging and body composition study
Article Abstract:
The determination of lower lean mass and higher fat mass having independent effects on the loss of strength and muscle quality in older adults are reviewed. The preservation of lean mass and prevention of gain in fat during the old age is discussed.

Periodontal disease and weight loss in older adults
Article Abstract:
Periodontal disease may be causally related to weight loss in elderly persons and hence may increase the risk of mortality and morbidity. The association between periodontal disease and weight loss in an elderly group is examined in research clinics.
