Aging and memory for schematically versus taxonomically organized verbal materials
Article Abstract:
Two experiments were conducted wherein the effects of aging on the memory for simple verb-noun phrases organized taxonomically and schematically in young and older subjects. Both agegroups were found to recall verbal materials organized schematically, however, the older age group seemed to be dependent on sorting cues. Facilitation of recall with schematic organization was accredited to associating connections between items.
