The treatment and prevention of coronary heart disease in Canada: Do older patients receive efficacious therapies?

Article Abstract:

Consistent gaps have been found between usual care and best care for treatment and prevention of myocardial infarction (MI) in older patients in Canada. Audit and feedback, critical pathways and multifactorial interventions may be the best change strategies. The prevention and treatment of coronary heart disease have been studied in Canada to see whether older patients do or do not receive efficacious therapies, comparing treatment patterns and clinical outcomes in younger persons.

Sleep disturbances and mortality: results from the Canadian study of health and aging

Article Abstract:

This article examines the relationship between daytime sleepiness and risk of death among a sample of elderly Canadians. Findings indicate that excessive tiredness during daytime hours does not independently increase mortality risk but may indicate underlying morbid conditions.
