Trait diagnosticity versus behavioral consistency as determinants of impression change in adulthood
Article Abstract:
Research suggests that aging is linked with changes to the effectiveness and efficiency of basic cognitive and intellectual skills. Age differences in types of processing lined with impression change were studied, and it was found that younger adults changed their impressions in response to the consistency of new information, but impression change in middle-aged and older adults was based on trait diagnosticity of the original and new information.
