Urinary catheters: What type do men and their nurses prefer?
Article Abstract:
Both patients and nursing staff find condom urinary catheters preferable to indwellling catheters for patient comfort. Dislodging of the preferred catheters and leaking are recognized as major drawbacks, however. To investigate desirability of differing urinary catheters a patient and nurse survey study has been carried out using convenience sampling and 104 patients with mean age of 71 completed the interviews. A condom catheter that is more secure should be developed.

Self-care practices used by older men and women to manage urinary incontinence: results from the National Follow-Up Survery on Self-Care and Aging
Article Abstract:
Many elderly men and women with urinary incontinence self-treat their condition, but many still seek the opinion of a doctor. In a survey of 787 people with urinary incontinence, about one-fourth used disposable pads, limited fluid intake, and avoiding going on trips. People who used disposable pads were actually more likely to visit a doctor.
