Vascular dementia: distinguishing characteristics, treatment and prevention

Article Abstract:

Dementia brought on by a hemmorrhagic brain lesion, such as a stroke, is the second most common form of dementia. The author discusses the physiological aspects of vascular dementia and diagnostic differences from Alzheimer's disease. He also discusses treatment option and prevention by maintaining good cardiovascular health.

Metabolic markers of cobalamin deficiency and cognitive function in normal older adults

Article Abstract:

The relationship between metabolic markers of cobalamin deficiency and cognitive function in normal older adults is analyzed. The study indicates presence of some cognitive scores related to serum methylcitric acid and possibly homocysteine in normal elderly subjects.

A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial of the Chinese herbal medicine "Ba Wei Di Huang Wan" in the treatment of dementia

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to evaluate whether a traditional Chinese herbal medicine, Ba Wei Di Wan (BDW) improves cognitive and physical functioning in dementia patients. The results of the study showed the benefits of BDW in the treatment of dimentia.
