Article Abstract:

An account of the courageous Americans, who escaped enemy hands dating back to the revolution including Lee Gordon in World War 1, Pat O'Brien in World War 2 and Thomas E. Rose in Civil War, is presented. Lee Gordon and Joshua Barney had to take three attempts to be successful in their escape but they did it with their utmost courage.

Dwight D. Eisenhower decided to not openly confront Sen Joseph R. McCarthy over his investigations of "communists in government." Eisenhower might have splintered the Republican Party had he done so, although some analysts maintain hundreds of loyal government employees were unnecessarily driven from their positions.
