An investigation of the willingness of managerial employees to accept an expatriate assignment
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted on attitudes of managerial employees over expatriate assignments, with focus on the cultural characteristics of the host country. The influences of company relocation policy and demographic, personality, career and spouse-related variables on the willingness of a sample of Singaporean managers were analyzed. Results showed that the respondents were more willing to be assigned to a culturally similar country. Such a behavior was attributed to managers' perception that a culturally similar location would not pose too much disruption in established routines.

Willingness to accept mobility opportunities: destination makes a difference
Article Abstract:
A study to investigate the factors involved in the willingness of a worker to relocate was conducted on 326 state agency employees. Results indicate that the type of community in the locale targetted for relocation is a significant variable in the study. Willingness to relocate is significantly related to the similarity of community between the current location and the proposed location. Workers are more willing to relocate to a similar community over a disimilar community.
