Analyzing literature-based innovation output indicators: the Italian experience
Article Abstract:
Classifications of innovation events adequately measure innovation output based on industrial products launched in the market and reported in trade journals in Italy. This measure of innovation output is important because it determines whether a concept for a new or improved product, such as a patented invention, has acquired economic value. Economic importance is only achieved when a new product is introduced in the market.

A literature-based innovation output indicator
Article Abstract:
The literature-based innovation output indicator can be used when evaluating innovations and their distribution across industries, across firm size and across firms that are UK-owned or foreign-owned. However, the method is more applicable when evaluating product innovation than process innovation. Results indicate that innovations in UK firms are aimed primarily towards product differentiation.
