GAR's lasting link in the unbroken patriotic chain

Veterans of Foreign Wars's (VFW) National Council of Administration unanimously adopted a resolution to admit all the members of Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) as honorary members to the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the US in 1919. In subsequent years, VFW and GAR Posts conducted Memorial Day ceremonies together and held joint conventions in some states since then GAR's history and connection to VFW are very strong.
