Communities, AIDS and geography
Article Abstract:
Innovations in mass communications and transportation technology have broken down the geographical barriers across the globe. However, academic communities continue to persist in limiting their range of influence and societal contributions. For instance, studies on HIV and AIDS are being done simultaneously in different countries. The disorganization and virtual non-cooperation among scientists have hampered the emergence of more knowledge on AIDS and HIV and effective treatment strategies for the patients.

Understanding the AIDS epidemic and reacting sensibly to it
Article Abstract:
The HIV epidemic happening throughout the world has added a moralistic nature to it. This could be the result of the knowledge that it is usually transmitted through unsafe sex practices and drug use. However, it is possible to control the spread of the disease even without significant advances in biomedical research. Methods that could be employed range from advising commercial sex workers on the use of condoms and educational campaigns that promote safe sex attitudes.
